I love deals. Let me say that again. I love deals. I will go to any length to pay less than retail for a product, and most of the time far less than retail. It’s part of how I live my Rich Life.
Black Friday
Many people were trampled this Black Friday, many were cut in line, and some fared even worse. For a BlackBerry! Come on!
Yours truly, however, did not have to wait in a single line for my slamming Black Friday deal. I’ve been disappointed with the past two Black Fridays, and I hoped for better deals for 2011. You see, when you hunt for deals as much as I do, most of the Black Friday “deals” aren’t really deals at all. Retailers have to REALLY slash prices to grab my attention.
The only deal I wanted – a new SSD
This year, I upgraded my computing device, and I’ve been in need of a new solid state drive. In my last (5-year-old BlackBook) computer, I used the cheapest solid state drive there was. A 64GB Kingston SATA2 drive. After mail-in-rebates, ebates cash back, and eBillme cash back, I spent approximately $40 for the drive. 63 cents per gigabyte is quite a steal today, even more so a year ago.
The drive got terrible reviews everywhere, but it worked like a champ for me, for the year I had it. This year however, I wanted to get a better rated SSD. I decided to go with the Intel 320 series. Expensive, but very well rated and reliable. So how could I manage to get it for cheap, free, or even better?
And there you have it
Not only did I get a slamming deal on the only product I wanted, I got paid to buy it.
This was not the only Black Friday deal I took part in, however. I also got 6 Kindle Fires at $123.38 a piece, and made about $200 for buying software that came with mail-in-rebates, while monetizing Staples rewards. The Fires will all be resold for profit, taking my total profit for Black Friday up to about $600.
How’d you do this year?
