Electrical Drilling, Loft Floor
Progress, progress, progress. I set up a full schedule for Sunday – Saturday to separate my web development time from Tiny House building time, and it’s removed an insane amount of stress from me, so I’ll probably actually be getting in some good progress now.
Holes for Wires
I purchased a 3/4″ Auger Bit from Lowe’s, and I used it to drill all the holes in the wall studs. An auger bit is better than a spade bit for this job because it makes it much easier to get a really clean hole right in the middle of the stud.
I haven’t purchased the Romex wiring yet (the conduit-covered wiring for in-home electrical), but once I do – and once I plan the location of switches / outlets – I’ll get it all installed. We already know pretty much where the lights are going to go, but now we just need to decide on outlets and switches, and draw them onto the plywood walls.
Loft Floor
The loft floor is in! It’s absolutely glorious to sit up there. It makes the kitchen/bathroom/loft zone of the house feel completely different, and I love it. After siting on it and watching Jess sit on it, I’m pretty sure I’ll be adding 2-3 more support joists (including the bathroom support wall). I’m sure it would be fine the way it is, but I want to feel even better about it, so it’s over-engineering time.
I’ll just say it again for emphasis. I’m SO freaking excited that the loft floor is in. This thing is REALLY turning into a living space!
