It appears I have amassed a few more miles and points than the last time I checked in with you! That’s right, I’m up to 427,790 total miles and points across all the programs I participate in. The exciting thing? I have a new goal – 500,000 total miles and points across all programs. And I just might get there sooner than you’d think…
American Airlines Citi Update
I applied for the personal and business AA Citi cards, with a bonus of 75,000 miles each, with $4,000 spend (within 3 months). I have applied for the personal card before (after I applied and got one with a 30,000 mile bonus – ugh), and was rejected. The results were the same this time around. I was rejected based on my prior card ownership, since this is a “first time only” sort of deal.
However, I was approved for the business card! That will be 79,000 extra miles in my AAdvantage account, bringing me up to a total of 129,849 miles. I wish I could easily transfer miles (for free) between AA and BA, so I could get a massive TATL redemption, but that will have to wait.
Bonus Miles Earned = 79,000
Chase Sapphire Preferred Update
I’m upset that I didn’t get the Sapphire Preferred card quickly enough to get the 100k bonus, but with the way things have been going for people who got the card even long ago, I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to get 100k total from this card in no time.
I got a 50,000 point signup bonus after $3,000 in initial spend (within 3 months). Once all is said and done, I will have 53,000 points to transfer at a 1:1 ratio to CO. Hopefully another 100k offer will pop up soon, and I will request that (read: bug the hell out of) Chase offer me an extra 50,000 points. It will happen. Just wait for it.
These 53,000 points will take my CO total up to 190,374. I’m getting dangerously close to a 2-seater up-front TATL award, and I can’t wait to redeem it.
Bonus Points Earned = 53,000
You might also notice that my HHonors balance has bumped up to 94,857. I’m ecstatic about this balance going over 100,000. That actually won’t be that hard, as I get 6 points per dollar spent on gas, groceries, and wireless bills. My new goal for this account is 150,000 points. I’m sure I’ll get there in no time. The HHonors AMEX has been really awesome for me, and I can’t wait to redeem some points. Wanna know why?
Ummm, hello? Does anyone see the second hotel in the list of Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts? Forget a category 7 hotel, why not go for the big kahuna? That would be The Beach House Maldives Resort & Spa. Future trip, anyone? Sorry, that’s reserved for my wife. 🙂 I might as well increase my goal to 200,000 or 250,000 so we can REALLY get some R&R in the Maldives.
All I know is, flying for taxes only, and staying in a beach-freaking-villa for taxes only sounds good to me.
The Bottom Line
So, in conclusion, July’s churn has accumulated an extra 132,000 miles to my total. That will bump my overall total to 559,790. I’ll have finally cracked the half-million mark once the miles|points post!
I’m also going to have to thank my UPS delivery man profusely for assisting me in meeting all these initial spends with pirate’s booty.
Total bonus points|miles earned = 132,000.
